The Collect for Tuesday of the Second Week of Easter is:
“Enable us, we pray, almighty God, to proclaim the power of the risen Lord, that we, who have received the pledge of his gift, may come to possess all he gives when it is fully revealed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
Reflection
The power of the risen Lord is the power to overcome death and live in eternal happiness. In order to benefit from this power, we not only have to believe it, but also share it with others. That is why we pray to be able to do just that. Our belief and baptism is the “pledge of his gift.” The ability “to possess all he gives” is given at the Second Coming of Jesus to those who remained faithful. Our prayer throughout Easter will continue to draw upon this theme.
So, for your daily contribution to the Church’s collection of prayer,
take a moment to consider how you proclaim the power of the risen Lord. It doesn’t have to always be with words, but it should be proclaimed in some way. Pray for the grace to do that. If you’re not sure what that looks, then spend a few moment listening to God, asking for guidance and courage needed. Then spiritually unite that prayer to all the Masses throughout the world today. That way, when the priest says “Let us pray,” you can be a part of that “us” even if you don’t get to attend Mass.
