O God, by whom we are redeemed and receive adoption, look graciously upon your beloved sons and daughters,
– We recall our adoption and invoke our status as sons and daughters of God before making our request.

that those who believe in Christ may receive true freedom and an everlasting inheritance.
– That adoption is rooted in our belief in Christ, who alone can set us free from slavery to sin. Beyond freedom, we ask for our inheritance, which is grace and eternal life in a union of prefect love with God.

Questions & Advice: Do you really see yourself as a child of God? What does the word “freedom” bring to mind for you?

Read about our inheritance in the Catechism (2009). Spend some of your daily prayer time reflecting on how seriously you take your adoption by God. In order for us to inherit Christ’s reward, we must also inherit a share in Christ’s cross. Pray in a particular way for the grace to see how the cross does not limit our freedom, but rather increases it.
