“O God, who bring light to your Church through the learning of the Priest Saint Bede“
– As always, we credit God for the merits of his saints. In this case, St. Bede is a doctor of the Church, which means that he was a teacher of the faith. So, we acknowledge the goodness of God as seen in St. Bede’s learning.
“mercifully grant that your servants may always be enlightened by his wisdom and helped by his merits.”
– Not only do we benefit from reading what he wrote, but we can also be strengthened the grace his holiness of life merited for the whole Church. Thus, we ask to draw upon St. Bede’s every contribution, both written and lived.
